Almost six years ago, when I was 13, I broke my radius and my ulna in my wrist playing basketball. It was a simple fracture and did not need to be set or anything; all I needed was a long arm cast for three weeks. My wrist always ached slightly like right before it rained or if it was damp outside, but lately its been hurting every time I lift things or twist my wrist, like when Im driving. Its not really that painful, its just uncomfortable and Im only concerned because Im starting to notice it more and more. Has this happened to anyone before, or does anyone have any ideas on what this is? Thanks.
That happens sometimes. When bone and/or cartilage/tendons gets damaged, it can effect you for the rest of your life. The problem is that theres not much soft tissue in write/hand so every damage to it has an impact. And I know exactly what you mean about how it hurts more when it rains. I get the same thing. I broke my wrist and dislocated my thumb when I was 14 and every since then, with every year that goes by, the pain is more frequent. Before itd just hurt if I did something to aggravate it but now it hurts without any reason.
Go to a doctor and get it checked out. My ONE injury, although it wasnt serious, did enough damage to tendons (which like cartilage, heal VERY slowly and scar easily) gave me tendinitis and I got diagnosed with arthritis in that hand when I was 24.
After my injury, when pain/discomfort started getting more frequent, I did a couple of courses of physical therapy, which did helpbut only for like 3 months. Due to swelling I get I also did cortisone shot, but those did very little for me.
Lidocaine patches are awesome though.
