Ive only been playing poker for three years. In this day, the learning curve is a lot quicker than it used to be with the amount of books and access to online poker. Me, Im not one thats big on theory. It may sound strange to someone who is an avid player, but I rely more on instincts and reads.
I do the whole pot odds things and calculate. I make certain knowing I am going to get paid off in the end, but Ive always been more interested in the history of the game. Poker evolved from a back room, hustlers game to a mainstream pop culture reference, which I am now a statistic.
While in Los Angeles, I had to take the opportunity to play poker. There are hundreds of card rooms in this great state and hearing the stories and history behind these places, I had no choice.
The tiny poker player in me was calling, tugging me toward the Commerce.
It was dingy, musty and probably moldy from the looks from it.
It was perfect.
Poker came alive in that room. There was history there although many of the players on the lower limit side werent thinking about that. They were flinging their chips into pots with greater than I have ever witnessed.
Now, revealing Ive only played for the last few years, Im not a bankroll where I play in big games. Im still at the kiddie table, playing $1-$2 NL in Atlantic City. I didnt know what that translated into in the structure in California.
I chose the $200 buy-in game because I always buy in for $200 in A.C. Apparently, these games arent on the same level. Their $1-$2 NL was a $40 fixed buy-in. Even if I had known that, I probably wouldnt have jumped into that game anyway. A $40 buy-in doesnt give you much room to work with.
$3-$5 blinds. That was the game I was in. A little over my head and lots of loose player, who apparently dont care about theory either. Pot odds? To hell with that too. These guys were just interested in getting as much money into the middle of the pot and stacking chips.
Normally, in this type of situation theorist say the looser the game, the tighter. I ended up beating these guys at their own game while following my basic rules. I didnt get my chips into the pot with a bad starting hand just because that was their move. I started with a decent holdings, I just made my requirements a little lower.
I was stuck in the game for $400 and down to my last $50 before I got the hang of it. A lesson learned quickly, but expensively.
Good thing Bluffmaster Deuce (he was sitting in the two seat) sat down. This guy was the easiest read on the game. When he had a hand, he bet roughly of the pot. When he bluffed, he doubled the size of the pot. If there was $40 in the pot, then he bet $80.
I got back to even on his bluffs alone. My pair of deuces? Way good when he bet $40 into a $20 pot. My open-ended straight draw when he bet $80 into a $40? Money.
Finally, after four hours of play, I got back to even. I planned to leave when the blinds hit me. However, while under the gun, I looked down to black Kings. I raised $25 (standard) and four people called me.
FOUR!
The flop comes 4-K-5, rainbow. But being in early position and lots of people behind me, 6-7 and 3-4 are definitely hands I see these people calling with. I bet $60, I get one caller. The turn is an ace. I bet $150, he mucks. Missed his open-ender he says. Awesome.
I went home up $150 after being stuck $350. I felt like I won $1,000.

a lawsuit against the chain this week. Riese claims that Giulietta Consalvo, the woman who accuses manager Anthony Rakis of raping her in a cab, told him in 2006 that she was in fact not raped and even recommended a friend of hers to be Rakis's personal assistant after the alleged attack. Riese claims that the women who filed suit are simply trying to shake the company down and had asked for $100 million a year ago if they would remain silent on the matter. Another former employee Tiffany Studstill tells the Post that she thinks the women who filed the suit "are doing it for money" and that while she worked at the restaurant, she "never saw anyone in management do anything inappropriate." She also denies the suit's claim that she and Rakis had a relationship.

The UK is the first powerful country in the world to pass laws allowing for the regulation of online gaming. By this September, gambling on the internet will be completely legal in the United Kingdom. Their intention is to invite offshore casinos, which are currently based on third-world islands, to come do business on their free land. Once the transition occurs, the UK will be in position to regulate and tax the 10 billion pound-a-year industry. Over the past year, the UK parliament has actively pursued laws to enable legalized and regulated online gambling within their territory. Taxation plans are currently being negotiated.
Other countries like Italy, who first banned all forms of web based wagering, are now moving to complete legalization through proper regulation. Spain and South Africa are following suit, helping to bring Internet gambling acceptance to the global marketplace. There are some countries, like Germany and France, who are leaning towards prohibition, but their purpose is to protect land-based casino gambling operations. However, protectionism goes against European Union standards and many challenges lay ahead for the liberal continent. At the opposite end of the debate, the United States has declared a prohibitive stance towards the industry citing moral issues as their argument, however they do allow brick and mortar casinos, lotteries, bingo halls, and horse racing tracks to operate legally on their land.
The Internet gambling industry changes on a month-by-month basis. Keeping up with all the current events and latest newsworthy happenings takes time and devotion. It is our duty and pleasure at Casino Gambling Web to perform this job on your behalf. We take great pride in delivering quality and relevant news pertaining to the industry so be sure to stay tuned.

Today’s volatile economic climate is stoking fears in individuals, companies and industries from Wall Street to Main Street.
The gaming industry is no exception. But, interestingly, there are mixed results across the country. While some gaming markets struggle, others are posting modest gains. The current economic situation is complex and fluid, and casino revenue reports vary from state to state.
As with the broader economy, the commercial casino industry began to feel the effects of the current economic downturn in the second half of 2007 following the collapse of the housing market and a widespread decrease in consumer spending. Although the industry continued to expand in some states, such as Iowa and Pennsylvania, gaming revenues began to stall elsewhere.
2008 continues to pose economic challenges for the industry. The sagging national economy, significant job losses, high gas prices and myriad more problems are forcing consumers to cut their budgets to stay afloat. Tightening capital markets are applying increased pressure to commercial developers across the country.
In Nevada, statewide gaming revenues dropped substantially this summer. Through July, revenues were down 6.6 percent when compared with the first seven months of 2007. In Las Vegas, on the Strip, gaming revenues were down 6.5 percent. A decline in visitation, aggravated by a significant dip in the number of available airline seats, is largely to blame for these losses.
Casinos elsewhere, though, are outperforming 2008 projections. In Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Park Casino was projected to earn $297 million annually, but it just completed its first full year with $325 million. The nearby Harrah’s Chester Casino earned $332 million, nearly $100 million more than expected. Likewise, gaming revenues in Iowa have increased throughout 2008. Second-quarter revenues were up 7.5 percent from last year. And in August – aided, in part, by an additional weekend – Iowa gaming revenues climbed 5.4 percent. Casinos in Missouri, too, have experienced consistent growth in 2008. Throughout the first half of the year, they earned more than $427.5 million, up more than 5 percent from the same period last year.
The news is mixed in New Jersey and Mississippi, although both states are weathering the economic storm slightly better than Nevada in recent months. In Atlantic City, casinos reported $468.3 million in wins last month, a .7 percent increase over August 2007 wins, which is most likely attributable to the same extra weekend in August that boosted Iowa’s numbers. Overall gaming revenues in New Jersey are down in 2008, partially due to smoking bans in Atlantic City and competition from neighboring casinos in Pennsylvania .Similarly, Mississippi casinos have registered relatively flat revenues throughout the year, earning $238.1 million last month, $1.2 million less thanAugust 2007 winnings. However, gross gaming revenues from Mississippi’s Gulf Coast casinos have exceeded pre-Katrina levels for much of the year.
In sum, the gaming industry, like every other sector of the economy, certainly is facing tough times. But though it is not immune from economic struggles, the gaming industry is enduring and adaptable. The current market challenges encourage innovation and creativity, which will serve the industry well in the long term. The industry continues to be committed to the communities where it operates and play a vital role in the economic mix of cities and towns across the country. The industry will continue to weather the storm, and when the economy begins to improve, the gaming industry will rebound stronger than before.

An More information on Air intake and other products. or also known as cold air intake is a system made to cool down the air flow going into the car and by doing this – to increase the power of the internal-combustion engine. A secondary benefit of having this aftermarket part is the change of the appeal of your car. Air intakes make the car sound and look better. That’s why air intakes are made by many materials and into many colours.
Now let’s take a look at the history of this interesting component of the daily life of many people today. In the late 1980s KN Engineering are known to be the first to offer this product and therefore they are called to be the creators of this aftermarket solution. The first air intake is made by plastic and it is consisted of a tube that intakes the air and a filter that happens to be a very necessary component which will be used in future. In the late 1990s many manufacturers begun working on their own designs of air intakes and that made these products available in the Japan domestic market and in many other places all around the world that are close to the final costumer.
The mechanics of the cold air intakes follows one very simple physical principal – the cold air has a higher density for a given volume. It is known that the combustion requires oxygen and the more air you give into the combustion process the more power you will get from it. Designers came to the solution that if they take the air from around the vehicle it will be cooler than the one in the combustion area and this will provide more oxygen. This is why there is an air intake tube that intakes the air from a place more distant to the one where the combustion process happens and where the heat is higher.
However the higher the resistance of the tube is the warmer the air will get because of the air-dynamical friction. To ensure little friction the designers sometimes increase the diameter of the air intake component and this provides more airflow with decreased friction. It is possible for the diameter to be increased but it can’t be increased too much because it will become too big. That’s why another strategy comes into play. By smoothing the internal side of the intake tube the turbulence of the air is reduced and with this – the air-dynamical friction is reduced. More direct route for the air could be possible in some cases and it could provide even greater results. Some manufacturers redesign their air filters too with the goal of reducing their air resistance.
The intake snorkel is an opening in which the intake of the air happens. In order to maintain sufficient airflow no matter of the current throttle the intake snorkel should be large enough and it is usually calculated for full throttle. There is no need for further automatic systems to enhance its parameters because even if less air is required it will still be no problem to have more. The intake opening should not be too large because sometimes efficiency could be lost due to this. If there are no other restrictions for the airflow the intake opening should be with the diameter of the tube. Some resistances of the system could enforce the need for bigger diameter of the intake opening but this should be properly calibrated.
One good solution for the intake is the use of a heat shield. This part is designed to isolate the air filter from the rest of the engine compartment and enables the air to come in with lower temperature. Usually this air is taken from the front side of the engine bay.
Some manufacturers use Carbon fiber for air intakes and this provides a nice looking of the final product. The Carbon fiber has better temperature isolation parameters and in some cases it helps for the isolation of the air filter. It reduces the weight of the car too because it is less heavy than the metal. However the Carbon fiber is an expensive material. In many cases it gives just a better look to the car without actually doing much good.
One pretty extreme solution for air intake is called CCA or Complete Cold Air. It usually requires some modifications to the body of the car. The idea is that the air is taken from the hood scoop or wheel wells. The air in these places is with high velocity and that pressurizes it which rapidly reduces its temperature. This solution for air intake is called ram-air intake and it is applied for high performance vehicles like race cars or motorcycles.
When using air intakes there should be one word always staying into your mind when you drive in a rainy day. That word is . It happens when water is sucked through the air intake tube. It will most likely leave you from less to no horsepower at all. Water is not like air and it will not compress which could allow for it to raise its velocity. When the velocity reaches critical state the so called “hydraulic blow” appears and out the blue it breaks the connecting rods in the pistons.
You could just be careful and avoid raining days or maybe drive slower but usually it doesn’t help you much because when you are in a hurry you can’t always think about your car. After all it should work for you - not the opposite. That’s why some precautions are required.
The first precaution that comes in mind is not to drive in a rainy day at all but since that is usually not an option let’s take a look into some better solutions. The first is called hydro-shield and it is actually a simple piece of plastic that blocks all water from entering into the air filter. Today KN offers one pretty nice solution too called “Drycharger” which is not too expensive and it could save you a lot of troubles.

The latest craze in the Travel Industry this year is hotel reviews. Hotel reviews provide future travelers with unbiased real experiences for review prior to making a hotel reservation. Many online systems have a method to rate the hotels like a star rating or other icon. Sharing hotel experiences seems to create a tight knit community. These reviewers feel good about the information they are sharing. The travelers that are providing the valuable information to others find that it's rewarding to give someone a tip or recommendation that can make their trip better. The most recognized site on the Internet for Hotel Reviews is TripAdvisor.com which is owned by Expedia.com and Hotels.com. TripAdvisor.com offers users the ability to research their trip to anywhere in the world!
Atlantic City, New Jersey needs a website that can provide users with the latest reviews of hotels and casinos that include comments, tips and recommendations for others to view. Sharing your experience can make a big difference to an upcoming trip to Atlantic City.
Travel and Hotel Reviews Tip: When viewing your next hotel review make sure you know the age of person posting the review and get a feel what type of traveler they are. You will read reviews with both incredibly positive and terrible experiences, the key is to find the middle ground. You can weed out the complaints that tend to be petty or unrealistic, whatever you do, don't accept the review as the gospel. I've witnessed many times an angery review but the hotel turned out to incredible!
Have fun and use as many Atlantic City Hotel Reviews when planning your next trip to AC.

Strap in, kids. The Mole has been off the air for a while and I have an Atlantic City opus in store here. (By the way, did the people who came up with the tourism slogan "New Jersey and You, Perfect Together" ever pause to realize that the slogan is essentially an invitation to write your own joke about New Jersey? Last time I looked, there were a shortage of New Jersey jokes out there.)
Before I get started, let me just say that the political end of the discussion on sports betting is not what I am advocating, talking about, or anything else. Whether you or I are for or against whatever line of thought that is out there is personal business. Politics, of course, has to get brought up in the natural direction of this discussion. For the record, the legislative drive to bring sports betting to Atlantic City, New Jersey has bipartisan support; for stereotypical political reasons you might think it is solely a Democratic initiative. The legislation was introduced by then-Rep. Jeff Van Drew, a Democrat, but Republican support was soon to follow. Thats as overtly political as Im going to get. The inner workings and resulting partisanship of New Jersey state politics and (in this case) the very long and complicated discussion of the Federal and State legal interactions that are necessary for legalization of sports betting is another topic for an entirely different place on the Internet. My concern, as it has been since the first Mole post, is tourism. You dont have to believe that there is a connection between legalized betting and tourism, but I assure you that one does exist. Having got all that out in the open, lets get started:
The recent push to legalize sports betting (again, see below) is the direct result of the Borgata poker room illegal sports betting ring, dubbed "Operation High Roller", which was publicized after an 18-month investigation when 18 people were arrested on November 14th, 2007. Of the 23 people arrested, six were Borgata employees and four had ties to the Philadelphia mob and its jailed head, Joseph "Skinny Joey" Merlino.
The idea of legalizing sports betting in New Jersey crops up every few years, and that news cycle gets accelerated whenever New Jersey is mentioned in any form of an illegal gambling news piece. The back-story is easy: in 1992, Congress passed The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, which essentially made sports betting illegal nationwide save for Delaware, Montana, Nevada, and Oregon. The language of the law contained a provision for a one year window for states that had regulated casinos for at least 10 years to pass a matching state law that would allow sports betting. Said window was put into the law specifically for New Jersey, as Congress realized that Las Vegas had embraced betting in the casinos, and maybe New Jersey would be motivated to do the same? The window closed on New Years Day of 1994.
The exchange of information went something like this:
Congress: "Hey, New Jersey. We carved a nice fat loophole into this law specifically for you. Arent we nice? What say you take advantage of our generosity?"
New Jersey: "blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda, 1993 Governors race, Bill Bradley used to play pro basketball and he has a ton of unions contributing to his campaigns and those unions may or may not have organized crime ties, and they want to keep their undocumented cash flow, so that somehow may have something to do with our inaction but were not really sure, and partisan bickering Congress: "Alrighty then, next item."
Now, with the window having been permanently closed as of 1994, the push to get sports action into the casinos not only faces political infighting and those genuinely opposed to such a thing happening, but also the tiny little problem of a Federal ban that the state had the chance to do something about and didnt. For reasons that are passing of my personal understanding, the taboo on sports betting in a regulated and normalized setting is so awful that New Jersey would rather let the New York Mafia, the Philadelphia Mafia, and Caribbean offshore websites handle the needs of individuals interested in betting. With their bets, New Jersey is saying "Fuhgeddaboudit" to millions in tax revenue and further millions in ancillary revenue. There will be more on this later, because as with anything else, its all about money.
And so we have a new exchange of information that should shape up something like this:
New Jersey: "Hi, Congress. Were all about the sports betting thing now. Did you see the stuff going on at Borgata?"
Congress: (checks watch, stifles chuckle): "New Jersey, youre about 14 years behind the play. No go on that, sorry. That 1994 loophole was akin to a free pass from the teacher, and you proceeded to mumble something about the dog eating your homework."
New Jersey: "Were planning on getting a state law passed and then going to court about that pesky 1994 bit."
Congress: "Youre going to go to court in an attempt to overturn one specific section of a perfectly Constitutional piece of Federal law?"
New Jersey: "Thats the plan, yes.

Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa - Atlantic City New Jersey - 1-866-Myborgata
On September 21, 2008 we headed up north to a spa in Atlantic City NJ. Laura had never been to AC or Vegas so the new adventure was exciting for her. We arrived at the hotel at 2:15pm with a spa appointment set for 3pm.
The line to check in was very long so I went to the concierge and they checked me in so we could do the spa and we would just have to come back to get our keys.
We arrived at the spa to walk into a general waiting area that everyone was just sitting around. Nothing private or relaxing. We were given our lockers and told to change. However, there are no changing stalls. At this spa you have to go into the bathroom which is a normal size stall and no place to put your things….we didn’t like that at all.
This time around we had two male masseuses. The massage room was nice but a bit small. The massage was good. Not as good as the girls at Landsdowne did but it was still good. The one thing we did not like is that they put oil in their hands and rubbed it right into your hair to do the scalp massage. The guy I had, was actually using his nails to massage my scalp and it was not pleasant. Needless to say, Laura said I looked like I had just gotten done having a wild night of whoopi when I walked out of there because of all the oil in my hair and how messy it was.
We went into the hot tub area and that was nice. There are lounge chairs laying around like it is poolside. We decided to skip the saunas this time. We were just ready to go. It did not have that same feeling we had at Landsdowne.
So, we decided to take a shower and clean up. However, when finished, they have a blow dryer and hair products but NO COMBS! This really put us off. How do you blowdry your hair without a brush or comb?
And there are no dressing rooms to get dressed…now we were upset. We had to walk back to our room with our hair soaking wet and uncombed.. We were not happy campers to say the least.
The rooms here are really nice however the wait staff at the restaurants we found were very rude. We were wondering if it is the people in NJ or we were just getting some ticked off people helping us.
Overall, we rate this spa experience a 5. It was average. Nothing exceptional but not so bad that we weren’t relaxed from the massage.
They have a “Rejuvenation” package that we did. Only available Sunday thru Thursdays (based on availability) the room with two 50 minute massages and taxes came out to approximately $466.00 for one night.

I've been happily floundering around with Photoshop for awhile now, but it is such an overwhelming program that some of the basic functions have been alluding me. I feel like one of those doofs in the infomercials like the man who tries to open an envelope with a chainsaw, or the woman who can't get the milk carton open so she stabs it with a steak knife and then calls out in desperation, "There has GOT to be a better way!" Despite faithfully reading my instructional book, following tutorials, and regularly using Photoshop, I know I do a lot of things inefficiently, and rather stupidly. But now, there is one less thing I will do the long/difficult/messy way......I have now discovered the power of the Transform tool!! I knew it had to exist, I just didn't know what it was called or it's location in the Photoshop Labyrinth. But now I know, and I can scale, rotate and warp my images all I want! Yay.
