Due to lack of time and inspiration I decided to take a short break from photography but I couldn't miss the first match in Slovenian 1.b handball league when Maribor was playing Sežana. This was the first handball match and the first indoor competition I photographed. I started out with Sigma 70-300 and a flash aimed at the roof, but results were poor due to 1600 ISO and aperture 4-5,6. After that I put on Canon 50mm 1,4 and despite the fact I couldn't use zoom, things started getting better.
PS: I am preparing a big surprise, which will come hopefully soon.

Pretty bad thing if you got locked out right?
Well, indeed.
I forgot to bring my keys and the best damn thing is that, no one at home. Grrrr! I called mom and she told me they all at Harbour Front. LMAO. SO FAR LAH!! Then she told me that they will be outside for a long time and she told me to call my brother. Of course I knew that my brother never bring handphone to school, but I said okay. Then, I called my brother, as I thought, no one picked up. Then I called Gowri. Maybe I could go to her house or something but she didn't pick up. I called her house too, but I guess no one's at home. My mom called my again and she told me that everyone going home soon. So I went downstairs, where there's chair to sit down. There is no table under my block, lol. Okay, waited for minutes (but it felt like hours) with N accompanying me by SMS :) Okay. Oh, I love the english perioud today. Ms Purana didn't come and was relieved with an ex-bukit viewan who currently having his training as a teacher. Seriously man, he know how we feel as a student. The boys was having so much fun with him because they were talking about something stupid. LOL. He let us do ANYTHING. Seriously, ANYTHING. But don't let him catch you. I ate sweet from Renee, and he didn't caught me. LOL. Aqilah was sending songs, and he didn't caught her. So, we're kinda a good person that never get caught. LOL :D Goodbye.

Excerpt from Songs of December
You said once I was your twin…
who knew when we were
separated? Once the eye
blinks, the parting done, nothing
quite the same after. Seems like we've had
lifetimes of practice, years of rehearsals,
to offer up ourselves, to be
torn apart, cut away, again
brushed together, two fires
ablaze then die
out in frigid winter,
leaving one body
aglow with some knowledge
of the other. Who else knows
that sting of brevity?
And I don't know
how to tell it --
And I don't know
how it happened.
I'm only the magician's assistant
in crystal bra and harem pants
busy carrying knives, arrows, torches.
The careless prophet who made us
had since gone. Reason too, gone.
What remains: a rusty scalpel,
a handful of tangled wires
and tiny clumps of clay, proof
of amputation. No one remembers
how long ago that was, but we both
know the body has its own memory
of being there. Now,
it's December in the drifting city.
It's my birthday, and our origins flash,
disintegrate, a lost pearl glows
like rapture. What am I made for
if not for you? …’

Say Goodbye
For Gianna Chachere Valerie Massimi
Never ever acted our age
You too can have a secret blog
But to what end, when you are only cat
With cool tiger stripes makes you Beckett faced
The man with muscular calves
Loves men half his age
Even if he didn’t tell him that the bed
Was wet, the girls partied until the bottles empty
The hurricane caused a disturbance in all our minds
Music of angels only temporarily salves
What is lost in the memory
A city forms identity
The city is gone, so what can we be
In the dispersion it is leveled and understood
That the powerful will keep power
At all cost, the cost of any living being
Tender is the night, journey to its end

Handball History
Handball is an international 7-a-side indoor sport played in 147 countries around the world. It emerged from an amalgam of similar sports in the early part of the 20th century. It has been an official Olympic sport since the 1972 Games in Munich. The international governing body for the sports is the International Handball Federation (IHF) whose headquarters are in Basil, Switzerland.
Handball has developed from a number of similar games, which were in existence at the start of the 20th century. These games were played in Central and Northern Europe and in 1926 Standard International Rules were established. In 1928 the International Amateur Handball Federation was established by 11 countries during the Summer Olympic Games. This body later became the present International Handball Federation.
In the early part of the century Handball was an eleven-a-side game played outdoors on a soccer pitch and indeed this version of the game is still played by in countries such as Austria and Germany.
As the popularity of handball spread throughout Europe, major modifications were being considered in Northern Europe due to the more severe climate. The need for indoor handball became apparent. As an indoor game, handball became faster and more colourful and rapidly grew to become popular throughout Europe.
Indoor handball and the outdoor field version enjoyed equal popularity until the late 1960s. In 1965 the Olympic Committee approved indoor handball for the Olympic Games and the name now refers exclusively to the indoors 7-a-side version.
The first IHF mens indoor World Championships were held in 1954 and Sweden emerged as the champions. Three years later Czechoslovakia won the first Ladies Championships. The Scandinavian countries, along with Germany and the former Soviet Union, were traditionally the powerhouses in world Handball. This has been changing over the past decade as the popularity of the sport has increased in the Southern and Western European countries as well as in the Far East. We now have very strong national teams from other nations France, Denmark, Egypt, and Korea.
The World and European handball championships are well-established events attracting several million TV viewers. But the sport is not well developed in the English speaking parts of the globe - e.g. the U.S., Canada, Australia, Ireland etc. Teams from these countries regularly compete at World and Olympic championships but as yet they have not broken into the top ranking nations.
The governing body for handball in Europe is the European Handball Federation (EHF) based in Vienna, Austria. Europe is the traditional home of handball with 46 nations affiliated to the EHF. The standard of the game varies considerably within Europe - from professional leagues in Germany, Spain, France and Sweden to extremely amateur minority sport level in countries such as Ireland, UK and Malta.

Outsports got some prominent featuring on todays Dan Patrick radio show. He had me on for about 15 minutes to talk about NBC not mentioning Mitcham sexuality. I found DP very engaging (duh) and thoughtful on the topic. The discussion went on for another 20 to 30 minutes after I got off the phone between DP and a couple other guys on the show, as well as callers. Their conversation further strengthened my fear that many people in sports media just dont know what to do with gay sports stories. DP was wary of getting the story right, which was thoughtful and professional; my beef wasnt with him. The other guys, on the other hand, were against mentioning the gay aspect of the story at all and missed the journalistic angle of the story. As Ive said, many people in sports journalism arent journalists; theyre just fans with a voice.

CC Sabathia was working on another complete game when Brewers manager Ned Yost decided to lift the big left-hander in the ninth inning. The way Sabathia is going, it's likely to happen his next time out anyway. Sabathia pitched deep into the game in another terrific outing for Milwaukee and Prince Fielder hit two home runs Saturday, leading the Brewers to a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

The WWE never used the DQ for throwing people over the top rope, that was an NWA/WCW idea. I dont see them using it because its redundant, its ok to throw them through the middle rope, but god forbid they go over the top.
Being DQed for a closed fist I dont think have ever happened in pro wrestling. The heels need to be smarter and use the closed fist behind the refs back rather than have a fragrant disreguard for the rules. The ref also needs a easier way to get distracted so the heel could use the closed fist.
Another one they need to enforce is the five count. I dont like seeing people who dont break at five, and the ref just admonishes him. He broke the rules, the ref has the power to do something about it, but the ref doesnt. I know its scripted, but hell you think they could book it once or twice where the heel is laying a huge beat down on a guy, he chokes him past the five, and loses on DQ. Imagine if Colin Delaney won a singles match against The Miz or John Morrison that way, instant heat for them, and sympathy for Delaney.
Many of the older rules have become nonsensical in modern fast paced wrestling. I think its smart that the WWE is going back to the old school with the touch a weapon and if the ref sees it its a DQ, and slowing down their style. The problem is they dont allow enough time on TV for matches that work the slower style. Really if Heel managers returned, then everything would work out, the ref could get distracted, the heel cheats, the fans boo, and the ref turns around just in time to see the heel doing nothing wrong.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP)Holding off one of his best friends, Michael Phelps started his second attempt to break Mark Spitzs Olympic record with another epic swim.
Less than an hour later, the teenager he compares to a little sister joined Phelps in the record book.
Phelps set a world record in his first event of the U.S. Olympic swimming trials, touching just ahead of Ryan Lochte to win the 400-meter individual medley in 4 minutes, 5.25 seconds Sunday night.
Katie Hoff matched her former North Baltimore teammate in the 400 IM, taking down the womens mark in 4:31.12.
What a start to the eight-day meet!
Wearing the high-tech Speedo LZR Racer, Phelps beat his own mark of 4:06.22, set at last years world championships in Australia when he turned in one of the greatest performances in swimming history with seven gold medals.
After saying he had no fear of Phelps, Lochte proved it by also going under the previous record. But his time of 4:06.08 was only good enough for second with Phelps in the next lane over.
That was probably one of the most painful races of my life, the winner said. Everything was left in the pool. I definitely would not have been able to do it without Lochte beside me. Hes a great friend and a great competitor. I love racing him.
The 19-year-old Hoffplayfully described by Phelps as the little sister he never hadshowed no signs of the nervousness that ruined her first trip to the Olympics four years ago. The youngest member of the U.S. team, she was overcome by the moment and threw up on deck after failing to advance from her first event.
All grown up, Hoff dipped under record pace on the breaststroke leg and held on with her freestyle to beat Stephanie Rices mark of 4:31.46, set in March at the Australian Olympic trials.
Stephanie really raised the bar when she broke my old record, Hoff said. m just excited for Beijing, and I think its going to be a really tough challenging race with her.
Like Phelps, Hoff also was wearing the revolutionary Speedo suit, which has been worn for 40 of the 44 world marks set since it was unveiled in mid-February.
It definitely gave me a few tenths, Phelps said. At the end, when I was getting a little tired, the suit gave me a little extra edge.
Larsen Jensen, also wearing the LZR, set an American mark in the 400 freestyle in a three-way race to the wall with previous recordholder Peter Vanderkaay and Erik Vendt.
Jensens time of 3:43.53 topped Vanderkaays mark of 3:43.82, which was set last month in California. Vanderkaay also went lower, touching second in 3:43.73.
Brendan Hansen just missed another world record in the 100 breaststroke semifinals, advancing to Mondays final in 59.24. He holds the mark of 59.13, and nodded his head confidently when he looked toward the scoreboard.
Christine Magnuson was top qualifier in the semis of the 100 fly in 57.50 less than a second off Inge de Bruijns 8-year-old world record.
Phelps was slightly off world-record pace after the opening butterfly, but he had a body-length lead on Lochte as they switched to the backstroke.
The minus signindicative of a swimmer under record paceflashed on the board when Phelps made his flip turn on the back, sending the crowd at the Qwest Center into a frenzy. But Lochte was starting to close the gap, and he nearly pulled even as they headed toward the far wall in the breaststroke.
Lochte, a world recordholder himself, was less than a second behind at the 300 mark and looked poised to pull off a monumental upset. He and Phelps went at it stroke for stroke over the final two laps, but Phelps never relinquished his lead.
After his arm touched the wall ahead of Lochtes, Phelps looked at the scoreboard, saw the record and thrust his right fist in the air. Then he slapped the water.
Lochte, breathing heavily, grinned as Phelps celebrated. They hugged in the water, and then again on deck while the fans saluted them both with a standing ovation.
He looked great, and what an epic swim, said Phelps coach, Bob Bowman. One of the best swims Ive ever seen.
Phelps won six gold medals and two bronzes at the Athens Olympics, just missing Spitzs record of seven wins at the 1972 Munich Games. Phelpswho turns 23 on Mondayis determined to knock off the mark in Beijing.
Lochte was the top qualifier in the morning prelims.
After this morning, he told me he was tired, Phelps. I knew he wasnt that tired.

Tomorrow is my orientation day for Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. Today was my last day of sabbatical.
Today I worked on some errands and then realized I didn't sign up for an oral board review course! Yikes! The one in LA is all full, I'm third on the waiting list. There's one in Las Vegas in September, which I guess would be my second choice, and then there's Dallas and Chicago. With airfares the way they are, I'd like to be as close to home as possible. I was kicking myself all day.
I sent out some postcards and letters. Then at 4pm I headed to Robb Field for some more handball. Played on the "A" court - they call every shot a "hinder" even after the second bounce low kill that they never in a year could get to - they touch you and call the block. They then proceed to yell at you like it's your fault you didn't move or your moved the wrong way. Many of the older players whine and bitch - it's too bad, really destroys the sportsmanship. One guy starts yelling at another, "You made such awful calls!" To which he responds, "Well, I'm leaving with my ball then." The other courts are just as good in skill. This "A" court is mainly older white males, like 50-65yo, while everyone else is Hispanic or Black. Met this guy Sam and his cousin D whom i get along with - it was fun, Sam and I were partners today, and we did win once on the "A" court, then lost - short reign - and when it was our turn up again, they were "too tired." When they left, I partnered with Louis against Daniel and Christian who beat us in a tight game, 15-12. We almost came back. I was exhausted by then - must have been my 8th game? Saturday will be another day for playing.

You would think that dodge ball was dangerous enough, but in this world of sports there is another sport that brings together concepts of dodge ball and soccer and it is called team handball. Though the name may be innocent, the game can be deadly, especially for the goalie.
The object of the game is simple; you just have to get the ball into the opposing team’s goal. It is like soccer, except you do not use your feet, but rather your hands. The ball is a little bit softer than a soccer ball, but it is still made of hard rubber that can give you a rash mark if you get hit hard. The game requires a team to pass the ball from one player to the other. There is a special crease made around the goal to protect the goalie from getting smacked by the ball (and also add a twist to the game requiring you to throw it from a distance), but it rarely works as the players can just easily jump and chuck the ball at the goalie. There are many other complex rules about how many steps you can take, but let’s just leave that out for the sake of proving how deadly this sport is already.
Unlike the game of dodge ball, you have to use your body to deflect the ball. The point is not to let the ball get into the goal. You have to use whatever you have to deflect the ball. If you’re playing this game in school, for example during gym class, you don’t get any protection at all. When you are the goalie and the balls come at you at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour, you will get hurt. And for boys with sacred reproductive organs, after playing this game, you may NEVER have kids again!
I have always despised handball for its dangerous outcomes. When I first tried to play handball in middle school, I got hit severely playing as goalie. After that experience, I swore to never be a goalie and hoped that that would be the last time I would ever play handball. But, in my sophomore year during high school, we had to play handball again. Although I did not get to be the goalie, I got tripped and was slammed into the ground. Thank goodness that nothing was broken, but my right arm and leg were extremely sore for several days. It was yet another horrific experience that I had with handball.
I’m amazed that handball qualifies as an Olympic sport, and not dodge ball. Basically they are the same, though dodge ball makes people more aggressive, but boxing knocks people out—and it’s an Olympic sport too!
I hope that none of you ever get hurt from playing this dangerous sport. It’s not that it should be banned from the Olympics or from school, just that we should get more padding, like in soccer, and boxing. Then maybe I will try it again. But for now, I am going to rest my bruised arms and legs.
